With the upcoming Johor state elections, MUDA and its founder, Syed Saddiq, has been in the crosshairs of netizens who have thrown all sorts of allegations towards them.
However, MUDA recently found itself facing backlash from netizens after they were accused of trying to politicise trivial issues such as lunches.
In a Twitter post by the party’s official account, they asked users to choose which luncheon they’d prefer. Along with the post, they compared pictures of a fancy luncheon by BN versus a casual luncheon hosted by MUDA.
“Which one would you guys join?”

Netizens criticised the party for the post
The post has garnered only 857 likes but has amassed over 1,024 quote tweets. Many users commented their disappointment and disapproval of the tweet.
Malaysians expressed that they are tired of immature and dirty politics such as this, and asked the party to do better.
“I thought MUDA was pushing for more matured politics but it seems like this is the way that they want to play politics.”
“Even a luncheon is made to be an issue as if there is a comparison between who is eating expensive and who is more low profile,” commented a user.
Another user said, “There is no need to make comparisons like this. Be smart. The longer it has been, the more nonsensical this party has become.”
“You seriously want to play politics like this? It’s getting tiring,” said a user.
“MUDA is better than this. Come on. Don’t just become yet another Malaysian political party.”
“These kind of dirty politics where you criticise and put down others should only be done by dinosaurs.”
Users even called for MUDA’s social media manager to be fired
Following the backlash of the tweet, some users even called for MUDA to get a better social media manager.
“This is not the first time MUDA’s social media team has fu*ked up. Please get a better team,” commented one user.
“As a member of MUDA, please change your PR game. Back when the party wasn’t registered it is fine to troll like this. Now it’s just embarrassing.”
