Times are scary now and as members of the public, we need to be vigilant when we’re out.

On the morning of 22 May, a kidnapping case had taken place in Kuantan. It is said that at that time, a 4-year-old boy was playing with sand outside of his house and his mother was watering the plants in the yard.

The boy was taken away by an unidentified man and upon hearing the mother scream, her husband went out to give chase, reported Berita Harian.

Kidnapping Attempt

With the help of the locals in the area, they managed to catch the man and get the young boy back. A video of the locals capturing the kidnapper has gone viral.

According to the police statement, it is said that a team was dispatched after they received a phone call from a member of the public. When they reached the place of the incident, they found that the kidnapper was already caught.

The kidnapper is a Myanmar national and they found a white cloth diaper on him. It is believed that the cloth is used to cover the head of the child.

Police Capture Kidnapper

The case will be investigated under Section 363/511 for kidnapping and Section 6(1)(c) under the 1959/63 Immigration Act as the man had no identification documents.

The police have also urged everyone to be vigilant of their surroundings and to always look out for the security of their families to prevent incidents like this from happening.
