With 2021 closing its curtain in a few days time, this has definitely been the year for our local talents to be recognised worldwide, from scientific discovery to even local talents in the international entertainment industry.

What you may not know is that one of the old-timer actors in Malaysia, Rosyam Nor, is set to appear in an upcoming Hong Kong action-thriller flick, G Storm.

This is actually not his first international work. Previously, Rosyam Nor had a role in the 2016’s Tamil action-drama film, Kabali starring Superstar Rajinikanth. This time, Rosyam Nor will have a bigger role in G Storm as he plays the main villain of the movie, known as King!

However, the action stunts will be performed by a stuntman instead.

“It’s different in Hong Kong. Stuntman will be provided for all action scenes, and I’ll do the acting,” he revealed.

He also said that the working hours over there have been set to only 8 hours per day. Nothing more, nothing less, and regardless of the commencement of the working time.

The production of the film took place in late December 2019 and the initial plan of the shooting location would have involved both Hong Kong & Malaysia. Rosyam travelled back and forth a few times during the production. However, when the pandemic took over the world and all borders were closed, a lot of plans had to undergo massive changes.

“I last visited the Hong Kong in January 2020. As an actor, I was disappointed to not be able to complete a few scenes. So I’m waiting to see how would they complete my scenes.”

In terms of the entertainment industry in Hong Kong, he also revealed that he was treated like a star abroad, just like how other actors were. During the production, he was provided with a personal driver and a personal assistant as it is the culture there for the artists to show that they are indeed movie stars.

His character, King, is the mastermind that oversees his human smuggling activity empire and controls the movements of all his underlings. G Storm, which will hit theatres on 30 December, is directed by David Lam and will also star Louis Koo, Julian Cheung, Kevin Cheng, Jessical Hsuen and many more.

We are proud to see yet another local talent being recognised on an international scale! Will you be watching G Storm?
