A good cup of latte is usually priced between RM10 to RM15. Coffee connoisseurs often don’t mind paying a little more for their daily dose of caffeine but at what price do you draw the line?
A food vlogger recently shared her experience of drinking the most expensive coffee in her life at a coffee chain in KLCC, and the price might just be out of your expectations. In her TikTok post @walaofoodie, the vlogger revealed that she paid an amount of RM1216 for a cup of coffee – or precisely, Paraiso Gold Coffee from South America.
Limited edition kind of coffee
For a cup of coffee with that shocking 4-figure price, we can’t help but wonder the reason behind the price. Before placing her order, the vlogger got more information as to why Paraiso Gold Coffee is priced at such a high amount.
“It’s one of the rarest coffees in the world, and it’s not easy to grow the tree. The beans are also limited,” the server patiently explained.
He then graciously offered a cup of Paraiso Gold Coffee beans for the vlogger to observe and told her that the coffee beans have a taste of “great wine.”
She then sipped on the coffee and tried to identify the taste, which to her, tasted similar to other coffees.
“It tastes just like other coffees. I don’t know how to admire this cup of coffee.”
The vlogger, however, is a huge fan of the pastry she ordered, saying it’s “really tasty.”
According to the official website of the coffee house, the growth of the Paraiso Gold coffee bean thrives at an altitude of 1,100 meters which receives the balance of rain and heat. The beans contain a variety of tastes, which include exotic notes of rose, wild berries, green apple, pineapple, passion fruit, banana, wine, and more.
