Years after years, it’s flattering to see more local names making big achievements abroad. Just recently, Malaysian TikToker, Sabrina, who is based in Korea shared a surprise with her followers.
On her TikTok account @jpbrinx, Sabrina shared a teaser of an upcoming web K-Drama, Girl In The Mirror which is scheduled to release on 27 August. Here’s something about Girl In The Mirror… Sabrina is part of the cast in the web series!
She has not revealed too much about her role but she will be playing a student who gets bullied by her peers for wearing a Hijab. If you watch the teaser that Sabrina shared, most of the scenes in the teaser show her being physically assaulted.
A couple of weeks back, Sabrina shared another TikTok clip of her dancing with her fellow Korean cast members and teased the fans by saying,
“Our K-Drama will be out soon. Can you guess what character I am playing?”
In some of the scenes, Sabrina can also be heard speaking in fluent Korean.
In the meantime, Sabrina revealed that she was previously asked to undergo plastic surgery before she could start acting for another project. However, as the surgery is not allowed for Muslims, Sabrina rejected the working opportunity with the previous team.
Girl In The Mirror will not be released on any TV station or streaming service, as it is only available on the YouTube channel, Casually. The full trailer of the web drama is also available on the platform.
As of now, it is unknown how major Sabrina’s role is in the drama but after the release of the full trailer on YouTube, many Malaysian netizens couldn’t contain their excitement in seeing a local talent making debut in a K-drama.
Sabrina and other cast members received praise and many netizens can’t wait to see Sabrina in Girl In The Mirror.
The drama does feature a tagline, “I had to change myself to survive”. Does that imply the motivation of Sabrina’s character given that she’s mingling around in a new place, a new culture? We can only find out after the drama’s release.
K-drama fans, will you be watching Girl In The Mirror after its release? What do you think of a local talent’s involvement in the Korean entertainment industry?
