Yet another Malaysian who has made the country proud through her hard work and effort!
Recently at the 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships held in Kathmandu, Nepal, Philomena Dexclyn Siar, 40, set the record for being the first-ever Sarawakian woman to win a title in the regional competition.
Philomena, who is of Bidayuh origins and a state government administrative officer won the Women’s Sports Physique (Over 165cm) event. Coming in behind her are Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong of Vietnam and Ajaree Tansub of Thailand who were in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Speaking to the Borneo Post, Philomena said that she has mixed positive feelings, “I’m having a mix of feelings now – happy, emotional, gratitude, and relief!”
“I do feel blessed to have finally achieved what I have worked really hard for, which is getting my first gold medal in the Asian championships.”
This competition is Philomena’s third appearance and in her first 2 times, she was consistently in the Top 5. Her debut on the international stage was during an open tournament in 2018 in Singapore.
Now, she is looking forward to going into the big game, “Now, I am all fired up for the world championships in South Korea this November”.
