One of the world’s largest glove manufacturers is a Malaysian company called Top Glove Corporation Berhad, who just pledged to donate hundreds of boxes of gloves to local hospitals in Hubei Province.

According to Sin Chew Daily, this generous act followed a request by Malaysian Ng Yeen Seen, who has been communicating with the government response team in Wuhan ever since news about the new coronavirus outbreak surfaced.

She shared on Facebook that Wuhan has a special place in her heart as that is where her ancestors came from.

“Some may wonder why am I working so hard over Chinese New Year for an outbreak so far away? Truth is, I have a special relationship with Wuhan, as it is where my ancestors came from,” she said.

“I’ve been following the outbreak closely and I joined other overseas Chinese leaders as far as those in the US during the early days to raise funds and procure medical supplies, and this was before Chinese New Year.

“I thought personal donation would do so I didn’t seek help from anyone in Malaysia.”

However, a few days ago, her contacts in Wuhan informed her that they were running low on medical supplies in hospitals. So, she took it upon herself to look for glove companies in Malaysia since the country is among the largest producers in the world for rubber gloves.

Top Glove was the first manufacturer to respond and agreed to her request without hesitation! They pledged and delivered hundreds of boxes to hospitals in Hubei Province in batches.

Ng Yeen Seen thanks Top Glove in her post for their swift response and encourages Malaysians to donate in whatever way they can.

“Thank you Top Glove, Tan Sri Lim and members of the board for responding to my request so swiftly. Thank you all for your kind generosity,” she said.

“If you wish to donate in cash or in kind, please do not hesitate to contact me. As I always say, no amount and no help is too little. Every little helps!”

It’s small acts like this that make a difference for the ones who really need help. We’re so glad Malaysia is playing a part to help in the midst of the Wuhan crisis.
