A Malaysian girl’s handmade dress for her school’s Merdeka contest impressed netizens recently, going viral on TikTok with over 1.1 million views and more than 27,900 likes as of the time of writing.
In the video, shared by the girl’s mother @mommybiya, the girl’s outfit was so intricate and extra that she couldn’t fit inside a normal car en route to school so as to keep the colourful dress intact.
The girl had to stand at the back of a pickup truck to get to school because the dress couldn’t fit inside a regular car
Instead, in the 10-second video, the girl can be seen standing in the cargo bed of her father’s pickup truck to go to school for the Merdeka dress contest.
Recorded by her mother who was following closely behind the pickup truck, the girl and her father drove from their home all the way to her school while she was standing at the back.
Furthermore, when they arrived at the school, the father had to help his daughter get down from the back of the pickup truck, with stacks of plastic chairs being made as makeshift steps.
On the overlaid text of the video, @mommybiya asserted,
“She’s joining the Merdeka dress contest, but the dress can’t fit inside the car to go to school… Thankfully, we have your father’s pickup truck 😂😓”
