It’s always flattering to see Malaysians making names abroad. If you’re a hardcore gamer, this may inspire you.
The Grills Gaming team, which consists of a team of Malaysian girls, won the Gold Medal recently in the Global ESports Competition (GEG) after competing in Dota 2. Grills Gaming represented Malaysia last year in the GEG but ultimately lost to Thailand.
However, the Malaysian team made a comeback this year in the competition that was held in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. Grills Gaming consists of iStarx, Hishiko, Butterfly, velnaoh, Lynnie, and Aurora.
Grills Gaming started strong and ended the competition even stronger. Before being crowned champion, the Malaysian team met their nemesis – Thailand and successfully beat them with a 2-0 score. Grills Gaming then competed with the Argentinian team during the semi-finals, whom they also beat with a score of 2-0.
Grills Gaming went on to win the Gold medal after beating another team from Peru.
In their Facebook post last night (December 16), Grills Gaming took the opportunity to announce their victory and thank the coach who had done a great job in guiding them.
“Female teams are hard to coach so you get double the credit!”
Not only that, but the ladies in Grills Gaming also managed to overcome internal issues thanks to the therapy sessions that they had attended together.
“We made it!” Grills Gaming said and thanked their friends for the continuous support.
Congratulations, Grills Gaming! To all the gamers out there, this is perhaps your cue to strengthen your skills and represent the country in future GEGs.
