On the morning of 4 June, a 57-year-old woman came face-to-face with a flash flood in Klang. Due to that, she was trapped in her car with no means of escaping.
According to Sinar Harian and The Sun Daily, the incident took place at about 5 am near Klang Sentral, Jalan Meru.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said that they received an emergency call for the case at 5.44 am.
It is said that the woman was on her way home when she passed through a flooded road. Her car then got stuck as there was heavy rain. Investigations showed that she was stuck there for about 5 minutes before her car had been completely submerged.
Thankfully, the woman was rescued from the vehicle with the help of helpful samaritans before the arrival of the BOMBA. She did not sustain any injuries.
The assistant director also said that the water had overflowed from a nearby drain and it reached a depth of 1.3m. The water level has since receded.
That sounds like a very traumatic experience to have. We hope that the woman is doing well now! In the meantime, we hope that authorities will look at the cause of the flash flood and take necessary action.
