A local doctor shared on Facebook about a conversation she had with a 14-year-old girl and her mom, who came to the clinic after the girl hadn’t had her period for 5 months.
In her post, Dr. Amira Shazalyna Razali said the girl was just there for a check-up but ended up getting the shock of her life when she found out she was already pregnant.

“You said nothing happened!”
During the checkup, Amira instantly sensed that something was off, especially after noticing the teen’s stomach looked slightly larger than usual for her age.
“She was wearing a modest hijab, and had this innocent face. At first glance, her loose-fitting clothes didn’t reveal anything unusual,” she wrote.
Upon performing the ultrasound, a fully formed baby appeared on the screen, with visible hands and legs. The fetus was developed enough that she could even determine the baby’s gender.
The moment her mom heard the news, she didn’t take it well at all and blurted out,
“Oh my God, I knew it. What have you done? You said nothing happened!”

“Can she get an abortion?”
The mom couldn’t keep still and started pacing back and forth. In the midst of it, she turned to Amira and asked if it was still possible for her daughter to get an abortion.
Amira calmly responded,
“Based on the scan, she’s around 5 to 6 months pregnant. At this stage, abortion isn’t an option.”
Despite the mom’s reaction, Amira knew she had to keep things under control. She asked the woman to step outside so she could have a private conversation with the teen.
Once the scan was done, Amira sat down with the girl and gently asked if the intercourse had been consensual or if she had been forced. The girl then responded,
“It only happened once. My boyfriend thought I wouldn’t get pregnant. But I think he’ll take responsibility.”

“A lot of my friends have done it”
After asking a few more questions, Amira found out that the girl’s boyfriend was a few years older. But when she asked if he had been with other girls, the teen wasn’t even sure.
“But doctor, a lot of my friends have done it with their boyfriends too.”
The response completely left Amira at a loss for words.
“As a doctor, I just hope she finds a way forward without making things worse. As a parent, raising kids these days is tough. We need to teach our daughters to have self-respect and our sons to be responsible,” she wrote.
Amira concluded her post with a few takeaways for all the girls out there to keep in mind:
“Girls, if you have sex (even just once) pregnancy is always a possibility as long as you’ve had your period. Don’t fall for sweet words. If a guy asks for ‘more’ before marriage, he can ask any other girl too. If he really loves you, he’ll marry you first. Don’t throw away your dignity just because your friends are doing the same.”
