When we think about our grandparents, it’s usually hard for us to imagine their lives beyond being just that to us. But we often forget that years and years before our existence, they had a whole enriching life of their own.
A recent TikTok clip has been warming the hearts of Malaysians online after a nurse from a senior care centre had a sweet moment with one of the home’s residents. Shared by Muslim-friendly senior centre Laman Khaira to their account @lamankhaira, the caretaker had a playful boxing match with a male resident.
In the clip, the duo gave each other a solid handshake before the “boxing” began. Throwing some tosses his way, the older man dodged every single swing using his hands and forearms. At a point of the clip, the nurse and man even took a break from the boxing to act out arm movements from the joget traditional dance, entertaining one another in the process.
It was revealed in the caption of the post that the older man used to be a boxer in his heyday, showing why he was so precise when dodging and throwing certain moves, all without harm.
Receiving praise for going above and beyond her duties as a caretaker, many Malaysians applauded the nurse for taking a hands-on role when entertaining the residents of Laman Khaira.
“You are the best sister! Pampering the folks and bringing them joy. May your life always be blessed,” wrote one user.
One user also mentioned how the older man’s muscle memory must be amazing, because he caught every move with skill and ease.
“We can learn a lot from this grandfather, we don’t lose anything,” they wrote.
However, a few users also expressed how such a display made them reminisce about their own grandfathers, who they miss dearly.
