In a statement issued, the event organizers said the Miss World 2021 finale is postponed to next year due to issues related to the health and safety of participants, staff, crew and the public. The statement mentioned that additional security measures have been implemented in the interest of participants, production teams and spectators after assessing the increased risks for stage and locker room events. The statement elaborated,
“However, after several positive cases this morning (last Wednesday) and after discussions with officials and health experts, we decided to postpone this event.”
Miss World Malaysia 2021, Dr Lavanya Sivaji, has been confirmed to be one of the finalists who tested positive for Covid-19. The confirmation is shared by herself on her social media pages. In her post, she mentioned that the past couple of days was ‘extremely difficult to get through and it was indeed a bitter pill for her to swallow. But public health will also be her main concern and she is ok to put her dreams to the side for now.
Her journey is not over yet. The organizer has announced that everything will be rearranged and the finale will be held in 90 days. Right now, all we want is Dr Lavanya as well as those who are infected to recover and be healthy. She will always have Malaysia’s support.
