The Malaysian government will assist Palestine in building a hospital, mosque, and school in Gaza.

The matter was personally announced by the Prime Minister himself – Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim who called it an effort to rebuild Gaza in a collaboration between Malaysians, the government, and some private sectors.

“It is our effort, the sacrifice of the community and the people. Hopefully, Allah will protect us and guarantee the safety of Gaza and Palestine,” he said in an Instagram video post last night (January 29).

PMX also said that the Gaza reconstruction effort also involves cooperation between the Japanese and Malaysian governments, which intend to establish and launch a fund through the East Asia program.

He added that the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza after the atrocities has claimed more than 46,000 lives and caused more than two million Palestinians to become homeless,

“The ceasefire news should be welcomed with a recovery plan for Gaza.”

Anwar added that the reconstruction of Gaza, which was almost destroyed by Israeli attacks since October 2023, is expected to cost more than US$1 trillion.

He said a large amount was needed because facilities such as mosques, schools, hospitals, and houses had been destroyed.

The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on January 19, also stipulates that Hamas will release 33 prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

In a report by Al Jazeera, the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel has allowed over 500,000 Palestinians to return home. The war, which started in October 2023 and lasted over a year robbed many innocent lives.
