A truck driver claimed he was helping to take his girlfriend’s broken car to a workshop when he was detained on suspicion of khalwat at a house in Padang Serai, Kedah.

In the 2:05 am operation, the 46-year-old married man was caught with a 42-year-old single mother.

The arrest was made by mosque officials before being handed over to the Kulim District Religious Office (PADK) enforcement officers who arrived at the scene shortly after.

It is understood that the man frequently visited his girlfriend’s house previously.

Kulim District Religious Enforcement Officer, Anwar Sharifuddin Mat Saad, said that during the operation, the house door was opened by the man who was only wearing trousers without a shirt.

A search of the house found the woman in a room with her 12-year-old daughter who was sleeping.

“The man claimed he was helping his girlfriend take her car to a workshop that was supposedly still open at night.”

“He arrived at the woman’s house at 10 pm but claimed he had to stay overnight because it was too late to return to his home in Baling,” he said.

He added that the couple claimed they met through Facebook.
