A married woman allegedly travelled from Pahang to meet her 30-year-old ex-boyfriend, but they ended up getting caught for ‘khalwat’ (close proximity) at a budget hotel in Lunas, Kedah, earlier today (March 18).

According to Harian Metro, the mother of 3 said she first met her boyfriend 7 years ago through her cousin but lost contact after getting married.

Her husband reported her to the Religious Office

But recently, the 33-year-old woman and her ex-boyfriend got back in touch after her cousin gave her his phone number.

In a twist, the woman’s husband managed to track her down at the budget hotel with help from his family and quickly alerted the Kulim District Religious Office (PADK).

Kulim District Religious Enforcement Officer Anwar Sharifuddin Mat Saad said they carried out the raid at 3:40 AM.

She claimed that she was having problems with her husband

The woman said she hadn’t seen her boyfriend in a long time and was having problems with her husband.

“During the raid, the man was only wearing jeans without a shirt, while the woman was fully dressed but without a headscarf.

Anwar explained that the couple couldn’t provide any documents proving they were married or having close family relations, so they were detained on suspicion of khalwat.

The case is being investigated under Section 25(a)(b) of the Kedah Syariah Criminal Offenses Enactment 2014 for khalwat.
