If you’ve had the liberty of watching American movies filmed circa 50s or have seen modern movies featuring a collection of cars huddled in front of a big-screen, then you have witnessed the nostalgic look and feel of a drive-in cinema.

What exactly is a drive-in cinema? Well, as the name suggests, a drive-in cinema involves an outdoor venue with a large screen that friends, families and couples drive to, park and watch a movie from the comfort of their car, with audiences tuning their car radios to a specific frequency to listen to the film.

2020 06 19

With drive-in cinemas being killed off with the emergence of video rentals in the 70s and 80s, it has in recent times made a revival not only in the States but also at other locations around the world, especially in Asia.

With the Thais announcing the emergence of a pop-up, drive-in cinema, Malaysians too will be able to enjoy the same privilege of a movie night while maintaining social distancing, through the opening of M-Junction 2020, Malaysia’s first drive-in cinema.

Creating much buzz via Instagram, @mjunction2020 made the announcement three days ago, to the excitement of netizens.

Organised by @mdeventsasia and TwoSpicy Entertainment Live www.2spicy.com.my providers of experiences such as Dinner In The Sky Malaysia, location and date of the event has yet to be announced by the organisers.

Looking out for something a little different to do for your date night? Why not give this drive-in cinema a try? What better way to have a movie night and maintain social distancing, right? To book tickets before they are sold out www.mjunction.my.
