Malaysia’s first astronaut, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, is doing his part to help Malaysia amidst the Covid-19 outbreak in his own way.
He recently shared a photo of him on 22 April as a food rider for local restaurant, Restoran Rebung Dato Chef Ismail, and has been delivering for them for the past week.
He shared that he is actually one of the co-owners of the esteemed restaurant in Kuala Lumpur together with Chef Ismail since 2003, and narrated his journey as a co-owner in his Instagram post.
“I remember going to Pasar Borong Selayang at 4am during those days buying fresh seafood everyday for the past six months during our start up,” he said.
“I remember sending Lemang & Rendang & Dodol in the wee hours of morning Raya for the past two years. Those were the days.”
“And Alhamdulillah – after 17 years, Rebung is still standing strong with 80 staffs achieving many Awards – Best Malay Food for five consecutive years.”
“We even shifted from Bangsar Park to Botanical Park in 2018 for a more spacious five-storey parking space and could accommodate up to 500 pax.”
Dr Sheikh Muszaphar then shared that the restaurant opened again last week during the movement control order (MCO) and that he has been personally delivering the food to customers.
“There’s no doubt the food is mouth watering. Haha puji Restaurant sendiri (praising my own restaurant),” he said.
“We started opening again last week during this MCO and I personally put my feet on the ground to deliver food.”
If you’d like to order some of Restoran Rebung’s authentic Malay food and hopefully meet Dr Sheikh yourself, you can place your order on WhatsApp at 011-2790 6993 or call 03-2276 3535.
