With Chinese New Year approaching and all this talk about parents pressuring their kids to get a partner, it has created a new ‘thing’ where people are renting strangers to ease their parents’ worries. Yes, RENT FAKE BOYFRIENDS OR GIRLFRIENDS.
While renting boyfriends/girlfriends are more commonly heard in China, this one Malaysian student from University Malaya posted up his own ‘job advertisement’ in search for a good girlfriend candidate for Chinese New Year.
Because ultimately no one wants to end up in a situation like this.
The guy remains anonymous as he posted the bizarre ‘job ad’ on University Malaya’s confession page. He writes,
“Finding a temporary girlfriend for CNY period:

Malaysians who stumbled across this post laughed at the absurdity of it while others were fascinated at how generous the job’s pay is.
One girl even cheekily wrote in her application in the comments’ section,
“Hi, I’m only 150+ but while I lack in height I will make up for it by having a killer sense of humour. Will also willingly drink alcohol with your ahyis and kaofus. Will only charge you RM50 for holding hands up to 3 times. Pls consider me as a candidate sir I need money to pay for kolej kediaman tq.”
Besides tons of girls getting tagged in the post, guys themselves even jokingly chimed in, asking if they could fill up the spot instead!
“Forget about girls. Guys more effective lah. Bring me home one time, confirm you don’t need to rent another partner for life!”
Regardless whether this is a real GF vacancy posting or not, we all definitely had a good laugh about it!
