The authorities recently detained a Malaysian woman for drug abuse after she was found consuming drugs at home in front of her children, including her newborn baby.
The case came to light when officers from the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) raided her residence, during which they also arrested four other men. The Kuala Muda AADK detained four men and one woman, the mother, during the operation, and discovered three children at the premises, including a one-month-old infant.

Investigations revealed that the woman has five children with her ex-husband. However, the newborn was fathered by another man who is currently serving a prison sentence.
AADK officers later spoke with the womanâs mother to better understand the familyâs background. She revealed that because the babyâs father is incarcerated, the birth registration process has not yet been completed for the infant, who is about 30 days old.

The Kuala Muda district police chief said that anti-drug efforts should not focus solely on law enforcement, detention, or treatment. Instead, he stressed the importance of addressing the underlying social causes behind each case, including family breakdown, economic pressure, educational gaps, and a lack of emotional support.

While arrangements are being made for the individual involved to undergo drug rehabilitation counselling, the anti-drug agency will also work with relevant units to provide assistance. This includes support related to registration, education, and social welfare, with the aim of helping the family gradually overcome the drug problem and reintegrate into society through comprehensive intervention.
The case was shared by AADK in a TikTok post, which also revealed that the womanâs mother accepted the situation as a test of fate.
