When we apply for a loan or insurance from financial institutions, we wait in anticipation for it to be approved but if it’s rejected, we get sorely disappointed and move on with life. Then we move on to try other banks! But this guy was outraged after his application to be insured for RM100 million got rejected. Wah, that’s a huge amount!
As a result, the 29-year-old man was furious and he set a bank on fire in Johor Bahru after he received the rejection notice. The incident happened at around 8.45pm on Thursday night at a bank located on Jalan Kundang, the Star reports.
The suspect allegedly splashed some liquid, believed to be petrol on the bank’s door and lighted up a piece of paper to start the fire. After the place was ablaze, he immediately got on his motorcycle and escaped from the scene.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Wahib Musa said that the Fire and Rescue Department got there in time and put out the fire before any serious damage was done to the property. Phew, that’s a relief!
After investigating, the police managed to arrest the suspect at his home and based on initial investigations, the man said that he was unhappy that his application for RM100 million life and medical insurance was rejected by the bank’s officers.

Buying insurance is important but this is quite a big overreaction!
