Malaysians often dream of moving overseas and started a new life in a different country in hopes that they’ll thrive there.

But, at the end of the day, no where else will feel like home besides Malaysia!

Netizen, @addamshahh (who is a Malaysian living in Japan), took to his TikTok account to showcase how he had stumbled upon a fellow Malaysian running a restaurant in Japan, who said that Malaysia is more ‘syok‘ compared to the land of the rising sun (Japan, d’uh).

He wrote, “I was shocked to know he knew how to speak Malay, it turns out he’s a fellow Malaysian!”

In his video, the Malaysian man, who runs a Halal restaurant called Master Chicken in Tokyo, could be seen happily interacting with @addamshahh and his friends, who were dressed in their Baju Melayu.

When @addamshahh asked the man if he prefers to stay in Malaysia or Japan, he immediately replied, “Of course Malaysia lah“.

Malaysia is very ‘syok‘, you know? It’s not ‘syok‘ here and it’s cold. Malaysia’s environment, it’s more fun. It’s still okay here (in Japan) but, it’s not as ‘syok‘ here,” the man added.

For those of you who may not know, ‘syok‘ is a Malaysian slang that ultimately means fun, lively and/or enjoyable.

They went on to joke around together and wished everyone a Selamat Hari Raya. It’s obvious that these guys have become fast friends!
