Two men were thrown approximately three metres into the air after a lorry tank they were welding exploded at a workshop near Batu 6, Kuala Sawah, Rantau, yesterday (16 August) at around 1:15 pm.

One of the victims, a 33-year-old lorry driver, tragically died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The other victim, a workshop assistant, sustained minor injuries.

It was reported that both men were welding a valve located at the top of the tank when it suddenly exploded, propelling them into the air and nearly striking the workshop roof.

According to Rantau Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Syazwan Saidy, emergency responders, including a Hazmat unit from the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Station, were dispatched immediately after receiving the alert.

“Upon arrival, one victim was found unconscious and was later confirmed dead by a medical team at the scene. The other victim sustained minor injuries and was sent to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment,” he said.
