A recent Threads post has caught netizens’ attention after a man shared an unpleasant experience with a chocolate drink he bought from a convenience store in Ampang.
In his post, Effie (@effie_mohamad) said he felt something stuck in his teeth after taking a sip of the drink. To his horror, he later realised that it was a cockroach leg.
Malaysian shocked after finding cockroach inside his drink
Effie was shocked to discover a crushed cockroach inside his drink, saying that he felt like throwing up.
“I was wondering what was stuck in my teeth… Then, lo and behold, it was a cockroach leg! When I checked the drink, there was a crushed cockroach inside. I felt like throwing up. I really regret buying a chocolate drink from the convenience store,” he wrote.
Following the incident, Effie claimed that the convenience store had responded to him, offering a RM50 voucher as compensation and saying that they would investigate the matter.
“They replied and asked me to request a refund through the food delivery platform I used to place the order. They’re only offering to compensate me with a RM50 voucher and said they would investigate the issue. For now, many friends have advised me to keep the drink containing the cockroach and report it to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
“Some lawyer friends have also suggested filing a civil claim for general damages and exemplary damages. Are there any experts who can advise me on this case?”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Effie expressed his disappointment with the RM50 compensation offered to him.
“The convenience store’s CEO has also commented on the matter and apologised. He said he would contact me, and I’ve already provided my phone number through their official Threads account, but I have yet to receive a call.”
