After just two days of its release, the Malaysian movie Blood Brothers: Bara Naga has grossed over RM 9 million, setting another benchmark for the local industry.
In a post by GSC Cinemas, as of Saturday (April 12), Blood Brothers has made a whopping RM9.2 million following its release on April 10 and an early screening on Wednesday (April 9).
The film was helmed by critically acclaimed director Syafiq Yusof, who also directed the crime thriller Sheriff: Narko Integriti, which was released in 2024.

Sheriff grossed a total of RM60.4 million throughout its release, making it the second highest-grossing local film of all time.
Sheriff also received the Special Film Box Office Award at the 33rd Malaysian Film Festival (FFM33), reported Astro Gempak.
Blood Brothers had a budget of RM7 million, according to Berita Harian, and cinemagoers in Selangor, Johor, Kedah, Pahang, and Terengganu were reported to have contributed massively to the success.
Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas), estimated that the takings could increase by another RM4 to RM5 million.
He also said it is possible for Blood Brothers to surpass Sheriff in the box office grossings, reported BERNAMA.
FINAS also aims for local films to capture 40% to 50% of the box office market share this year.
Meanwhile, Skop Productions Chairman Datuk Yusof Haslam expressed gratitude for the success of the film directed by his son, calling it a proud development for the national film industry. He believes the film’s success is a positive sign that audiences are returning to cinemas and that local films can compete with international productions.

2025 is looking like a good year ahead for the local movie industry. Earlier, Astro Shaw announced two upcoming cinematic universes, one to take place within the Polis Evo movie series with Polis Evo 4 and the Evo Academy TV show announced.
A prequel to Polis Evo 3, tentatively titled Reza and starring Sharnaaz Ahmad as the titular character, was also announced.
