Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister and Member of Parliament, Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah was trying his hardest to get an important road in Tangga Batu, Melaka repaired.
The road has had potholes that have been getting bigger in size for the past month, making it a hazard for drivers who frequently use it. According to Free Malaysia Today, despite the Tangga Batu MP’s efforts to get the district council to carry out repairs, the potholes still remained.
So, Abu Bakar decided to get the council’s attention and posted photos of him sitting by the potholes while praying for divine intervention. His Facebook caption translates,
“At 10.40 in the morning, I prayed that the mayor, district officers or members of parliament will come to see the potholes on Jalan Bukit Berliang that are continuously getting bigger.”
“I pray that these officials use their power to get this road fixed before a Tangga Batu resident gets hurt. Dear God, please answer my prayers. We have to continuously take care of our environment. The residents of Tangga Batu will always be in my heart.”
The photos, which were posted yesterday (19th February), soon became viral and garnered over 1,000 reactions and 200 shares. Then, just 12 hours after his post went up, the potholes were finally repaired!
Relieved that repairs were finally carried out, the minister thanked the authorities for fixing the road before they got even worse.
We’re also glad that this has finally been sorted out. Never underestimate the power of the internet, y’all!
