A relationship that ended two years ago has come back to haunt a Malaysian woman, despite her ex‑boyfriend’s absence.
The man had previously borrowed RM1,500 from loan sharks and, due to high interest rates, the debt has since ballooned to RM5,000. With the man nowhere to be found, the woman has been subjected to constant harassment by the loan sharks. Disturbingly, her six‑year‑old daughter has also been targeted.

The loan sharks claimed that the child was listed as the guarantor for the woman’s ex‑boyfriend’s debt
The woman’s nightmare began on 20 December last year, when loan sharks splashed red paint on her car. She was forced to find ways to settle her ex‑boyfriend’s debts, but on 5 January, the loan sharks returned and carried out another act of vandalism. Although she lodged a police report following the first incident, it was to no avail, as the harassment continued unabated.
“The police are useless. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been loan sharks for over four years,” the woman was allegedly told.
The woman insisted that she is no longer in contact with her former lover, but this did not deter the loan sharks, who have continued to harass and intimidate her. As a result, she and her family members have been living in fear, worried that the situation may escalate further.
The ordeal has been made worse by threats sent via WhatsApp.

“You can keep blocking us. As long as the debts are not settled, we will continue harassing you,” one message read.
“If you don’t wish to celebrate Chinese New Year, we will fulfil your wish.”
Despite being blocked, the loan sharks allegedly continued to contact the woman using different phone numbers, persisting in their threats, according to Sin Chew.
“If you don’t come out to solve this, we will keep coming. Think carefully about whether you want to celebrate Chinese New Year.”
She added that she has two children from the relationship but never married her ex‑boyfriend.
The woman recently shared her ordeal on social media, hoping that local councillors could intervene and help put an end to the harassment.
