10 years down the road, do you see yourself reminiscing good old times with your partner and seeing how far you both have come together?
As for Dato Lee Chong Wei, he’s still excited to celebrate his 10 years of marriage, and just recently, he took a trip down memory lane and reminisced about how he met his wife, Wong Mew Choo. And it all started with a journal entry.
Weeks ago, Chong Wei went back to Penang to attend a wedding dinner with his mom, where he stayed over at his old place for a few nights. In his old room which is now untidy and dusty given how long it was left empty, he went through his old stuff, until he stumbled upon his old diary. Initially, the badminton legend could not remember the contents of the diary, so he started to flip the pages, one by one.
It was actually a mini “biodata” of his friends whom he met at a badminton camp that he joined about a decade ago.
“They put in their dates of birth, contact numbers, and their messages for me.”
But it was the handwriting at the very end that captured his attention, just like how Mew Choo got his full attention when they first met.
“It was Mew Choo’s handwriting! Now I remember, it was our first meet-up at a badminton event.”
“I’m lucky to have met you”
The message that Mew Choo left for Chong Wei was short and simple but heartwarming.
“I’m lucky to have met you, and you have a cute McDonald’s hairstyle. Thank you.”
In his Facebook post last night (November 10), Chong Wei said he is actually the lucky one to have met Mew Choo in his life.
In his appreciation post for the 10th anniversary of his wedding, Chong Wei had nothing but the fondest words for his wife, and he thanked her for the love and care that she has been giving for the past decade.
“Even when you were pregnant, you did not stop caring for this family. Thank you.”
Chong Wei also had the same message for his wife which he had told her during their wedding 10 years ago.
“50 years down the road, I’ll have a lot to thank you for. I love you, Wong Mew Choo.”
Sustaining a marriage is never easy, and reminiscing how far you both have come is certainly an achievement to unlock. Best wishes to the lovebirds in their careers, as well as their marriage.
