A restaurant in Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur, was recently accused of pricing their food and beverages above their quality, but this led to a bigger discovery for the restaurant’s owner.
Netizen, spiderboyexplorer, took to his TikTok account to share how he had complained about the prices of the food and drinks he ordered at the restaurant, only for the restaurant owner to see his posting and learn that their staff had increased the prices for their profit.
He wrote, “Assalamualaikum to all, recently, I made this issue viral because the Extra Joss drink (I ordered) reached RM6. Suddenly, the owner (of the restaurant) messaged me to apologise and said that he didn’t know their staff had been playing around with their income this whole time.”
In his initial video, spiderboyexplorer complained about how the RM6 Extra Joss drink and RM3 white rice he ordered felt overpriced. He also pointed out that the rice was hard.
He then requested authorities to take action against the restaurant for their prices.
He also shared a screenshot of the restaurant owner’s response.
“Actually, I am the owner of the restaurant you made viral. Firstly, I’d like to apologise about what happened (with the pricing) and I really didn’t know that my staff was playing around with money. They increased the prices at the restaurant and only when you made this issue viral did I find out,”
“It turns out that they’ve been taking money from the restaurant by marking up prices to the customer but what can I do, what’s happened has happened and I have taken action against the staff,” the owner said while apologising again and offering him a refund.
