Political activist and social media content creator Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, or Ratu Naga, got called out recently after posting a video claiming that a Chinese school in Perak sang the Negaraku in another language.
After getting a ton of backlash and being accused of stirring up racial tension, she took down the video, and later apologised on her TikTok.

“The blame should go to those who re-shared the video”
In her apology video, Syarul Ema said she was confused about why people were still talking about the video, especially since she had already taken it down.
She admitted she was in the wrong for mishearing the lyrics the students were singing, but also pointed out that she wasn’t the only one, as plenty of others heard it the same way too.
She also said the blame should really go to those who re-uploaded the video elsewhere.
“I just found out that there are Madani cybertroopers who have downloaded the video, they managed to download it before it was taken down and had spread it to other platforms. But, if I deleted it within that time frame, why are there other parties posting it online for me? What is their motive?”

She has since been arrested
In a recent development, Syarul Ema has been arrested to help with an investigation into her claims that students at a Chinese school in Perak sang the national anthem, Negaraku, in Mandarin, as reported by Sinar Harian.
Her lawyer, Zaid Malek, said she was arrested by police around 12PM in Petaling Jaya on Thursday (April 10).
Zaid also mentioned she didn’t commit any crime related to the video and called the arrest unnecessary and over the top.
“She’s being investigated under the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” he added
