It’s a heartwarming Malaysian story of how kind gestures can extend beyond race, religion and creed.
Shahir Shafie recounted his brush with a kind “beautiful lady” on Facebook yesterday. Shahir arrived at KFC at Jalan Sulaman in the early hours of the morning. However, just mere hours before leaving to the airport that same morning, Shafie realized to his horror that he had left the house with only RM5 in his pocket!
Shafie needed to break fast soon, so decided on using his credit card to purchase a meal. He initially headed over to McDonald’s, but walked out after they didn’t accept credit card payment. Fortunately, KFC did.
Shortly after ordering, something went wrong with the credit card machine in the KFC outlet, leaving Shafie feeling quite dejected. All hope was not lost though – the cashier decided to carry out an incredible act of kindness.
The cashier told Shahir, “Just take the meal, my treat.. You’re having this for sahur right?”
It was such a small gesture, but Shafie was so touched as it allowed him to have breakfast when he intially couldn’t. Shahir added that she didn’t even ask him if he had cash on him, but straightaway offered him help.
Shahir heaped praises of thanks to her before enjoying his sahur. It’s amazing how such a small gesture can really make one’s day and end up inspiring the whole country.
Shahir has added that he has forgotten her name, but has not forgotten her kind deeds. He hopes by spreading the word he will let everyone know of his brush with such a kind Samaritan.

Malaysians who stumble across his post are equally as touched and expressed their ‘thank yous’ to him for sharing such an inspiring post for everyone to read. Some also noted that this is how living in a beautiful diverse country is, where everyone should always be considerate and thoughtful of each other’s cultures.
