Last year during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysians decided that they’ve had enough with the government at the time’s failure to help the rakyat and clear incompetence in dealing with the Covid-19 virus.

This led to a wave of dissatisfaction shown by netizens via the hashtag, #kerajaangagal (failed government) which was trending on Twitter for a couple of days.

Following the surprising results of GE15, it appears that the hashtag has once again risen from the ashes as it is once again trending on the social media platform due to rumours that a pact was to be made with PN to reinstate Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister once again.

Although it is unclear what is going to happen eventually and who would hold the mantle of Prime Minister of Malaysia, Malaysians were angered and disappointed to see Muhyiddin being considered as a possibility for PM.

“Does Muhyiddin even realise that he was the one who led #kerjaangagal until he eventually resigned? Like does no one around him tell him?”

“We already saw how Muhyiddin performed as PM and the only thing that increased was hashtags like #kerajaangagal“, commented another user.

Meanwhile, a few netizens pointed out that Muhyiddin’s reign and how he dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic was not great.

Another user highlighted how we have already experienced what it felt like to have Muhyiddin as PM.

“Try to remember again, were the conditions that great that we had to campaign for #kerajaangagal to replace him. Imagine how he’d handle the economy next year.”

What do you think of the return of the hashtag?
