A video recording showing a woman performing a belly dance in sexy attire recently went viral, drawing various criticisms for violating Kelantan government regulations.
Now, it has been reported that the organisers of a dinner event that allowed a woman to perform a sexy belly dance in public could face action.
Kelantan’s Local Government, Housing, Health, and Environment Exco, Hilmi Abdullah, stated that the state government is currently awaiting a full report from the Tanah Merah District Council regarding the incident which went viral.
“The organisers can be fined for not having an entertainment permit. Additionally, the premises owner can be fined for not having an Entertainment Venue License (not an entertainment venue),” he said.
He mentioned that the event clearly violated Section 6 of the Entertainment and Entertainment Venues Control Enactment 1998 for not having a license. If convicted, those involved could be fined up to RM20,000 or face five years in prison, or both.
Hilmi noted that, based on initial information, the event took place on December 21. He understood that most of the guests were miners from mainland China.
“All of them are involved in mining work around Tanah Merah. Additionally, company employees and external guests also attended.”
