Hmm, what did the Defence Minister said yesterday though….
In his press conference yesterday (4 May), Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced that six districts in Selangor will be placed under the Movement Control Order and the SOP will be based on other areas under the MCO. Based on the SOPs for the MCO in Kelantan, Malaysians assumed that the schools in Selangor will operate as per usual.
However, today (5 May), the Education Ministry announced that all schools in Selangor will be closed starting 6 May and 7 May.
The closure will continue until the Raya holidays which is followed by the previously announced two weeks of online learning and two weeks of mid-term school holidays. The schools in Selangor are set to reopen for face-to-face learning again on 12 and 13 June 2021.
Undoubtedly, Twitter users are angry with this sudden announcement as until yesterday, the schools were assumed to be open as usual. The sudden closure would definitely affect students and teachers alike, they said.
