The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in a statement today iterated that it takes seriously the advertisement content by BJAK Sdn Bhd (BJAK) through its website and social media accounts in which the company offers motor vehicle license (LKM) or road tax renewal online to the public, including BJAK’s so-called “free road tax programme”.
This is after various complaints have been lodged by the public about the service as the renewal through BJAK was not updated on JPJ’s system and the company had also allegedly charged extra fees for its services.
JPJ or MOT has never given BJAK approval to offer road tax renewal services
As it turns out, BJAK has NEVER been authorised by JPJ or the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to provide road tax renewal services.
Worse, JPJ clarified that BJAK’s statement that its online road tax renewal service is “audited, valid and approved by JPJ” is NOT true and confusing the public.
JPJ asserted,
“This department would like to stress that MOT and JPJ have never given approval to BJAK to offer road tax renewal services.”
“We would also like to iterate that MOT or JPJ has never authorised any extra fees that are currently charged by BJAK to their customers.”
JPJ urged the public to be more vigilant
JPJ thus urged the public to renew their road tax only through the JPJ counter, kiosk, JPJ Mobile counter, MyJPJ app, JPJ public portal and JPJ business partners’ platforms (Pos Malaysia, MyEG and PUSPAKOM).
The department further advised the public to be more careful with any platforms that offer invalid road tax renewal services to avoid any fraud or losses. Instead, the public is advised to refer to or contact JPJ 1st for more information.
