A special holiday was declared in Johor on 17 December 2023 to celebrate the victory of the state’s football team, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), in the 2023 Malaysia Cup (Piala Malaysia 2023).

According to the official statement by Johor’s government secretary, Dr Haji Azmi bin Rohani, the special holiday not only aims to celebrate the success of the JDT football team but also serves as an acknowledgement from the State Government to those involved and the people of Johor who unwaveringly supported JDT.

“The decision to declare this Special Event Holiday is following the provisions and powers granted under Section 9(1) of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369),” the statement adds.

This marks JDT’s 10th victory in the competition. A celebratory event will also be held at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim, Iskandar Puteri, on 16 December 2023 at 8:30 pm.
