In the Parliament session today, Jelutong MP (RSN Rayer) was escorted out of the Dewan Rakyat after a shouting match ensued between him and Bintulu MP, Tiong King Sing.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said instructed Rayer to take his seat as he was interrupting her ruling regarding the statement Tiong made.

Why this uproar?

Well, the Bintulu MP had criticized Health DG, Tan Sri Dr Hisham Abdullah saying that he never turun padang (get stuff done physically) by visiting hospitals and patients like frontliners do.

“If frontliners can visit patients, why can’t the Health DG? Is the Health DG afraid to die?”

This angered the Jelutong MP who started yelling at Tiong requesting him to retract his statement because you shouldn’t insult a government servant and that the Health DG is a frontliner.

Azalina repeatedly requested the Jelutong MP to sit down and allow her to give a ruling and allow Tiong to finish his statement. However, after her multiple requests went unheeded, Azalina ordered the sergeant-of-arms to escort Rayer from Parliament.
