A protest was recently held against Hannah Yeoh’s biography – Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey, which was released over 10 years ago and was recently reprinted for the 19th time.

During the protest, Masridzi Sat, the president of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Darul Islah Malaysia (PERKID), a Malaysian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) claimed that Becoming Hannah Yeoh is a “soft movement” to spread Christianity, as heard on the TikTok post by @normiswaryramli.

“Becoming Hannah Yeoh is dangerous and concerning,” he told the press.

One of the media friends who was at the scene double-checked with Masridzi himself if he had read the book, to which the President of PERKID did not give a clear answer.

“Everyone has that book. We’ve talked about it and discussed the content, it’s really not about if we have read the book.”

The interviewer continued to ask Masridzi the same question, which baffled the latter.

“Why must you ask that question? Are you trying to accuse me?” Masridzi asked, and the interviewer said he was merely asking and getting confirmation.

Masridzi insisted that “It’s not about if anyone has read the book”, but having a team who “studied” the book. In another video shared on PERTIWI’s Facebook page, Masridzi also claimed that Hannah Yeoh’s autobiography hints at the ideology of turning Malaysia into a Christian country, dubbing the book “a real threat to Muslims” in Malaysia.

“They invited a foreign group to come to Malaysia to spread Christianity here.”

He added that PERKID is urging the government to sack Hannah Yeoh, the Minister of Youth & Sports from the Cabinet.

Earlier, PDRM revealed that 182 police reports were lodged against Hannah Yeoh for the book, despite Hannah’s stance last year in which she affirmed that she has always respected the Federal Constitution and the position of Islam as the religion of the Federation.

As for Masridzi’s take on the book, Hannah has yet to respond to what the President of PERKID had to say.
