Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, the fireman who was attacked and injured at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple riot in Subang Jaya is now in critical condition.
The National Heart Institute (IJN) has just released a statement stating that Adib’s lung functions have shown a progressive deterioration in the last 24 hours. As quoted by NST, the statement also elaborated that,
“After thorough assessments, the lungs showed signs of consolidation and hardening of his lung tissue, thus making gas exchange ineffective. This is as the result of his severe initial lung injury. At the same time, his renal function also has not improved where he continues to require dialysis support.”
The institute has decided to reinsert the Veno-Vevous ECMO system from 9 pm yesterday in order to assist with this breathing after a discussion done with a team of multi-disciplinary personnel. It was also stated that,
“This is a setback on his medical conditions. As such, Muhammad Adib is critically ill. In view of Muhammad Adib’s condition, visitations are limited. We urge all Malaysians to continue praying for his recovery.”
Adib was take off the heart-support machine early this month as his heart was in stable condition. He was also taken off the VV-ECMO machine last Tuesday because he didn’t need a breathing aid.
The World Of Buzz team sends our thoughts and prayers out for our hero, Adib. We hope he will make a full recovery soon.
