Another day, another politician claiming to be a scientist?

On 19 December 2020, Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, warned his people of the dangers of getting the Covid-19 vaccine. He warned that the government won’t be responsible if the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine turns people into “crocodiles” or make women bearded as a side-effect.

The Indian Express reported that Bolsonaro tested positive for Covid-19 after months of undermining the pandemic’s danger.

He even said those who wish to be vaccinated will be provided with the vaccine free of charge but insisted that he has chosen to not be vaccinated.

“If you become superhuman, if a woman starts to grow a beard or if a man starts to speak with an effeminate voice, we will not have anything to do with it.”

“Some people say I’m giving a bad example. But to the imbeciles, to the idiots that say this, I told them I’ve already caught the virus, I have the antibodies, so why get vaccinated?

The hashtag #jacare started trending in Brazil which translates to “alligator” in English. Some netizens said that they would rather be an alligator than die from Covid-19. Brazil is currently the third-highest country recording Covid-19 cases worldwide with 7,733,746 positive cases and 196,018 deaths reported.

Is getting a superpower when vaccinated truly a bad thing? Let us know what you think!
