Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang, has long been recognised for helping people across the country, especially by providing financial aid to those in need.
While his kindness has always been widely appreciated, a recent incident caught the public’s attention when a foreign national reached out to him for help.

A pre-dawn plea for help
A foreigner reached out to Uncle Kentang for assistance after revealing that he had nothing to eat for sahur (pre-dawn meal). On his Facebook page, Uncle Kentang recalled the moment he was contacted by the man, a Pakistani national, who called him at around 4:20 AM.
He shared how the man spoke heartbreakingly about his hunger, having nothing to eat for sahur.
“It was 4:20 AM when a call came in from someone who was hungry and needed food for sahur. Muslims wake up to eat before continuing their fast,” he wrote.
Hunger knows no nationality
Without hesitation, Uncle Kentang offered his help. The man, believed to have messaged him on Facebook, later thanked him, saying he could now continue his fast.
Attached to the post is a screenshot of the Facebook conversation, in which the man expressed his hope that he could one day emulate Uncle Kentang by helping others.
“Thanks, Uncle. Received [the assistance]. May God bless you always. I can eat now this morning for my fasting. I wish one day I would become like you,” the man messaged.

In the caption, Uncle Kentang shared that he would help anyone in need, regardless of their background.
“I’m glad I could help a poor, hungry soul. He’s not Malaysian, he’s Pakistani. But we don’t see nationality, we see hunger,” the philanthropist said.
