Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang, recently took to social media to recall a moment when a divorced man reached out to him, saying he had no home to return to for the upcoming Chinese New Year.
The story earned full support from Uncle Kentang’s daughter after he decided to host a reunion dinner at his humble home for those who don’t want to spend the celebration alone.

Uncle Kentang invites the public to a reunion dinner at his home!
Taking to his Facebook page, Uncle Kentang has gone out of his way to announce that he will be hosting a reunion dinner at his home, warmly inviting the public to join him on 14 February.
“It’s our blessing to be able to hold this dinner for those who don’t have a place to celebrate. I could have held it at a restaurant, but it wouldn’t have the feeling of home. I want everyone to feel at home.
“I asked for my daughter’s consent and help. Thankfully, she agreed and is more than willing to assist,” he wrote.
He also mentioned that anyone who wishes to donate food, cookies, or small red packets can reach out to him at 018-2683999.

“I’m expecting up to 40 people”
Uncle Kentang has also asked that no more than 40 people contact him if they’d like to attend his hosted dinner.
“We don’t live in this world alone. We live as a community, and our neighbours are those who share the same time and space with us. Be kind to others, and God will be kind to us,” he added.
Here are the event details:
- Date: 14 February (Saturday)
- Time: 7:00 PM
- Address: No. 2, Jalan PU 10/13D, Taman Puchong Utama, Puchong, Selangor
