For many of us, this year’s Raya celebration will not be the same. As we enter yet another wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, most of us will be celebrating the Raya festivities without our parents and loved ones back at home.

Recently, a TikTok user shared a video that touched the hearts of many as she expressed her pain of being away from home and missing her family, particularly her mother.

In the video, Asmiza Atilia Rozaina (@intanatilia12) can be seen receiving a Raya care package from her parents. As she opens the package, she finds it filled with traditional Raya cookies and kerepeks. Asmiza was suddenly hit with a sense of nostalgia.

As she took a bite of the kerepek pisang that was made by her mother, she couldn’t help but cry.

The 25-year-old photographer told WORLD OF BUZZ that she is currently staying in Shah Alam as this is where she works now. However, her parents are still residing in her hometown at Selekoh, Perak.

Asmiza explained that during Hari Raya, her mother would cook up a storm back at home.

“My mum will always make ‘kerepek pisang‘ and ‘ayam kampung masak kicap‘ for Raya. It is a special dish during Raya,” she said.

“So I told my mum I really wanted it. She then posted them out as you can see in the video. But when I tasted it, it felt overwhelming. I really miss my hometown,” Azmiza added.

“It’s overwhelming when I taste the food that’s cooked by my own mother.”

For those of you who are missing your family and loved ones, hang in there. We know it is not easy.
