No one would want to go to prison voluntarily or without any solid reason, but a co-founder of a cryptocurrency hedge fund has said that his stay in the Singaporean prison was quite enjoyable.
Su Zhu, who is one of the co-founders of the now-defunct cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, recently did a podcast after his jail release with his co-founder Kyle Livingston Davies.
Snippets of the podcast have made their way to X (formerly known as Twitter), where he talked about his time in the Singaporean jail.
“Obviously no one wants to go to prison but it was actually a really enjoyable experience overall. Not to the point of highly recommending it but if it’s something that everyone got to experience once, I think it’s good for you.”
He elaborated on his jail activities: “You can read all the books you want, you can do all the push-ups you want. They give you lots of fruits every few hours, and they give you 3 meals.”
However, the thing that was regarded as the best was the sleep, where Su Zhu said:
“The sleep is amazing because they turn off the lights at 9.30pm and it’s back on at 5.30am. Because you have no internet time, no alchol, no caffeine, you fall asleep immediately. I had the best sleep of my life.”
Many netizens noted that his excellent experience is probably due to him being placed in a good facility and that most prisons are way worse than that.
In September 2023, Su Zhu was arrested for not cooperating with investigations into Three Arrows Capital, where he was attempting to fly out of Singapore at Changi Airport. He was released at the end of December for good behaviour.
