As the election is imminent, many influential Malaysians have registered to become candidates.
Recently, Nur Fathiah Syazwana who is popularly known as Cleopatra has shared that she will be contesting in the Batu Parliament
She uploaded a poster of her looking for volunteers and PACAs on Twitter. However, instead of helpful comments, she received unwarranted criticism.
Fathiah noticed the tweets and took a screenshot of them before uploading them. In the screenshot, we can see a conversation between some netizens.
“It’s the messy woman.”
“Oh, this woman? She’s a pornstar.”
“If I want to support PH, I would think twice if this woman was there.”
This interaction on Nur Fathiah’s thread has angered her and she posted the screenshot with a caption saying:
“I am a single mother of 2. Please don’t say this to me.”
In the thread, she clarified that she is not in Pakatan Harapan as she is “not corrupt”.
Many netizens defended her and said that even if they don’t support her political ideals, calling her a “pornstar” is unwarranted.
“This claim is a big claim. So easy for them to label someone like that. They will need to bear that sin in the afterlife.”
One netizen believes that Nur Fathiah should “show good personality with her clothing” even when she has covered all her limbs in the poster.
“In Islam, the clothes represent your morality. There will be no slander if you presented a good personality through your clothes. Lead by example since you want to be a leader.”
A netizen retorted: “Is it correct to label someone a pornstar in Islam? By spewing things like that, is it not sinful? You have such a narrow mind.”
Nur Fathiah has said that through that she is aware of how some people are uneasy with her life to the point that they want to slander her. However, she has decided to turn a blind eye to them.
Attacking a person like that is definitely not representative of good character. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
