A massive Jalur Gemilang-themed vegetarian cake baked in conjunction with the 66th Merdeka Day celebration has been certified by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) to be the largest of its kind in our country.

The 750kg, 2.7m long and 1.5m wide cake was a collaboration between the Johor State Government via Tourism Johor with Star Vendors Event Sdn Bhd, involving a group of chefs from several hotels in the state and the Malaysia Culinary Masters Association.

Taking to Facebook, Tourism Johor shared several photos of the 2023 Majestic Johor Festival  (MJF) event at Iskandar Puteri’s Puteri Harbour, with the vegetarian cake being front and centre. The post also shared photos of the official certificate from MBOR.

The record was officially certified by a representative of MBOR and presented to the Tourism Johor director, Haji Suhairi bin Haji Hashim.

According to BERNAMA, the cake took 48 hours to produce and involved about 600kg of flour. Moreover, the cake was eggless and was baked using chocolate chips, chocolate rice, water, icing sugar and margarine.

After it entered the record book, the massive cake entered the tummies of MJF visitors as it was distributed for free by the organiser.
