A touching video melted the hearts of Malaysians recently, showing the extra mile a school in Kuala Lumpur went in honouring a beloved member of its staff who’s retiring.
The video, shared by @mimiemicha13 shows the wholesome farewell celebration SK Convent (2) Bukit Nanas held for Manohar A/L Rengasamy, affectionately known as Uncle Mano, a general assistant and head of the cleaners department at the school.
A wholesome celebration for the retiring Uncle Mano
The celebration was held on Thursday (18 July) and showed Uncle Mano being serenaded by teachers, staff and students alike in a special farewell event.
At the start of the video, Uncle Mano can be seen being escorted as a ‘VIP’ to the school hall and upon entering, he is greeted with a necklace of flowers.
Inside, he took centre stage and received many gifts from virtually the whole school!
Afterwards, he was escorted outside the hall and rode at the back of a motorbike with ribbons on it, symbolising his journey to celebrate retirement.
The celebrations didn’t end there though, as Uncle Mano was then brought to the school canteen where a cake was waiting for him, as it was also coincidentally his birthday.
