One of the things that make Malaysia extra special is the amount of diverse cultures which call it home.
Minister of Youth and Sports and Segambut MP, Hannah Yeoh recently channelled RM29,000 to help the management of the Al-Imam Al-Ghazali Mosque to purchase a hearse.
According to a report by Astro Awani, she shared that the allocation is in addition to the funds that have already been collected by the mosque.
“I have been informed by the mosque about the need for a hearse and I understood that they had collected funds but it was still not enough. I have seen their application papers and I have channeled RM29,000 to meet the allocation,” she wrote.
“I believe this hearse will benefit the people of Segambut, who are in need as renting an ordinary van is quite expensive.”
Many believe that her assistance comes with an agenda
Although the act may seem like a selfless one, many netizens accused her of doing it for a hidden agenda.
“Smart at disguising and capturing the hearts of those who don’t know her yet.”
A user commented, “This is how easily Muslim Malays will melt. Children and grandchildren who are happy to believe that they are supposedly friendly with Islam.”
“PN people are smart in judging, we won’t be charmed by just a little bit of sugar,” commented another.
“This reminds me of when Lee Kuan Yew campaigned in Singapore last time. He even wore a songkok and donated a variety of things to Muslim Malays. But in the end, see the fate of Malays in Singapore.”
Others were quick to shut down the speculation and praise Hannah
On the other hand, others praised Yeoh for her selfless act.
“A YB who works hard to help the people. YB Hannah is the best.”
“Even if someone does something good, there are those who will not like it, so what more if they don’t do well? Don’t care about they say YB, continue to do good for the people. Congratulations YB Hannah Yeoh on your appointment as Minister of Youth and Sports,” said another.
