When there’s something strange in your neighbourhood, WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
There must be some sort of ghostly activity happening in Bangsar because the Ectomobile, aka the Ghostbusters car, was spotted heading down Jalan Maarof recently.
A netizen shared footage of the vehicle with WORLD OF BUZZ.
Many were excited to see the car but the sighting still begged the question, is Bangsar haunted?
Calm down, it’s not, guys.
We managed to speak to Jonathan Goon, the owner of the Ectomobile ‘Ecto-1’ and founder of the Ghostbusters Malaysia X Singapore group, who cleared things up.
Jonathan had borrowed Ecto-1 to the entertainment site, Outpost Productions so that they can make special merchandise deliveries for the next few days.
“I loaned out the car for deliveries of special merchandise since the (new) movie is coming out soon,” he shared.
Jonathan started building Ecto-1 in 2016 with the help of some friends. And though it took a couple of years to complete it, the vehicle is well worth it.
“From 2016 till earlier this year. MCO stalled (the process) for a year because I couldn’t go to any mechanics,”
“(He’s driven it in public) once or twice only. It’s been a work in progress since 2016. I haven’t been able to really see the public’s reaction (to Ecto-1) yet, but I feel happy that it’s bringing smiles to peoples’ faces!”
Now, all we need is for the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to make an appearance and everything will come full circle!
It’s truly amazing to see how creative our fellow Malaysians are when it comes to giving new life to our favourite classic, childhood movies.
Which other movie cars would you like to see roaming our local streets? Jonathan’s friend owns a Delorean lookalike!
