For those of you who are desperately awaiting your first balik kampung trip since Covid-19 took over, REJOICE!
The government has agreed to provide free tolls and discounted tolls to Malaysian families returning home for Hari Raya.
Bernama TV took to their Facebook page to share a statement from Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“In accordance with the phase of transition to endemic since 1 April 2022 and in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebrations expected on 3 May 2022, the government has agreed to give free tolls and discounted tolls to Keluarga Malaysia who are heading home for Hari Raya,” he shared.
This complimentary tolls and discounted tolls will involve 30 highways in Malaysia, starting 12am on 30 April (Saturday) until 11:59pm on 1 May (Sunday) to all vehicles.
Though, this year is special as the complimentary tolls will also be given for the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the East Coast Expressway (LPT) for return trips from 12am on 7 May 2022 (Saturday) to 11:59pm on 8 May (Sunday).
The total discounts that will be enjoyed by road users throughout this period would be RM77.11 million.
